Perched on a hill top, this home overlooks the Pappinbarra River as it winds through the Pappinbarra Valley on its way to Beechwood where it will connect to the Hastings River on its way through Wauchope and then Port Macquarie on the Coast.

The owners wanted a country style home with wrap around verandahs. The orientation was fabulous, on a North facing slope with views to the North. One of the difficulties of wrap around verandahs is achieving Northerly Sun Access. This was mitigaged by providing raked ceilings in the living and the rumpus rooms allowing for highlight windows in the gables.

Initially the design was carefully shaped to take advantage of the stunning views from the hill top. The next priority was catching as much sun as possible. Working with the family we created a layout to best suit their lifestyle and finally included design features like sculptured ceilings with varying heights, & built in shelves.

The builder, BDM Constructions, faithfully followed the drawings, whilst at the same time were able to add carefully crafted details to enhance the original design.

One of the owner’s priorities was to have an en-suite with a view. Do you think we achieved this goal?

The living area is a feature room of the house, with a large raked ceiling filled with Northern sunlight, a two sided built in fireplace, and direct access to the outdoor living area.

The kitchen was designed to integrate with the living area and become a social hub in the house. The sink was carefully placed at a window with views up the pappinbarra valley.

The main Bedroom is also a feature with high raked ceilings, direct access to the outdoor area, sweeping views and a romantic fire.

Careful attention was given to the design of the en-suite to give it a resort style feeling of space and luxury.

The secondary bedrooms are located on the Southern side of the house, and feature direct access to the verandah and swimming pool area.

The lounge room has been designed to seamlessly connect the outdoor area, kitchen, dining room and swimming pool.

The kitchen was designed to be the social hub of the house.

A fabulous country home tailor designed to suit the needs of this country family.
