Wing Chun is one of the world’s most popular styles of kung fu. Based on simple, easy to learn movements, Wing Chun is highly effective, fast paced and exciting. When learning Wing Chun, an emphasis is placed on refining simple, basic techniques which use very small amounts of energy to deflect or redirect large forces. As such, it is a suitable martial art for anyone; male or female, young or old, big or small.
Wing Chun generally consists of fast-paced close-range hand movements and low short kicks. By using deflections instead of blocks, Wing Chun has a simultaneous defence and attack in each technique. A trademark of Wing Chun is the sticking hands exercises, a partner exercise that increases sensitivity, reflex speed, left/right coordination, and mental focus.

While the system and techniques of Tao Zen Wing Chun are based in traditional Wing Chun, Master Richard Wong has integrated the structure and power generation of Tai Chi. This results in a rounding out of the joints allowing for a more free-flowing energy, less clash, more relaxation and sensitivity; similar to what is found in the martial art forms of Tai Chi.
Both adults and children are taught the Tai Chi aspect of Tao Zen Wing Chun from the very beginning, learning how to stand, step and move to enhance internal energy flow. This creates an integrated, whole body movement, making each technique more powerful.
